Dr Zvonko Sigmund is an Assistant Professor at the University of Zagreb Faculty of Civil Engineering. At the University of Zagreb Faculty of Civil Engineering. He specialises in seismic disaster risk reduction, investment planning and built heritage protection. His research set the basis for the quick seismic risk assessment implemented in the seismic risk assessment of the City of Zagreb. Zvonko was also involved in the National Risk Assessment (for earthquakes) and is a part of the Croatian Civil Protection MUSAR team. His research interests are Seismic Safety of the Built Environment, Public Policy, Built Heritage Protection, Feasibility and Sustainability in DRR Preventive Measures. For the last 5 years, he has been the representative of the Republic of Croatia at the European Science Technology Advisory Group (E-STAG), a group of DRR experts organised at the UNDRR.
